TUESDAY, 9 July
“musical mix to start with”
Pasażer (elektronica / hip hop / alternative)
Trio from Lublin, proudly calling their work the “Lublin Renaissance”. They base their style on live drums, complementing it with synthesisers and rapping, which creates a very potent energetic mix. In 2018 the band released the album Święto Ostów (“Thistle Holiday”).
Vinok (pop / indie rock)
Band with multinational roots (USA, France, Belgium and Ukraine), currently based in Kiev. Their music is based on two foundations – voice and rhythm. The lead vocalist, Nathalie, sings in both English and French, and her voice, which breaks pop standards, some compare to Florence Welch, Janis Joplin and Dolores O’Riordan.
Żyjoki (hip hop / rap)
Kopruch and K-Essence present a rap-looper-guitar-beatbox project undoubtedly best presented at concerts. We’ve heard that if you have a rapper and live instruments, it’s called “organic hip-hop”, but when recorded it sounds too much like “moronic-hip-hop”, so let’s just call it G-PUNK.
WEDNESDAY, 10 JULY
The Sunlit Earth (rock / alternatywa)
A four-person band that is almost at the finish line with their second album. After the release of the first album (Between The Lines) the group had the pleasure to play on many Polish and German club and festival stages. TSE combines aggressive sound with melody and energy so characteristic of independent British scene.
Hello My Sunshine (rock / jazz)
The combination of Bogna’s emotional lyrics with the stylistic madness of the band, eclectic combination of rock, jazz, pop and rock’n’roll – this is Hello My Sunshine. This band from Wrocław was a semi-finalist of many competitions, among others: Debiuty Opolskie (Opole Debuts), Woodstock, Must Be The Music and Muzycznej Bitwy Radia Wrocław (Radio Wrocław Musical Battle).
Frankenstein Children (rock / alternatywa)
The band has been awarded at many music reviews and festivals all over the country. They were in the finals of Muzyczna Bitwa Radia Wrocław (Music Battle of Radio Wrocław) and the 45th Fama in Świnoujście. In the spring of 2017 they won the academic review organised by the Poznan Afera Radio, which opened the way for them to all university students festivals in Poznan. A year later, they made it into the fifth Enea Spring Break. On 12th April, the band released their second album Patience.
THURSDAY, 11 JULY
Fink Tree (alternative rock)
Poznań-based band existing since 2014. It performed in such places as: Grzegorz Ciechowski Festival in Tczew, SongsCon Berlin 2018 (Yamaha Talent Stage), Hard Rock Cafe Warsaw (Sony Music Talent Show), Hard Rock Cafe Wrocław or Stary Maneż (Old Manege) in Gdańsk. The band is currently working intensively on their debut album.
Black Radio (alternative rock)
The band from Łódź, founded in 2008. They have released the Gasoline Planet album and played more than 150 concerts, including at the Main Stages of the Woodstock and Jarocin Festivals. Finalists of the 9th edition of Must Be The Music and winners of many national music festivals, including Around the Rock (1st prize), Rock In Minsk (1st prize) and In Memoriam 16th Grzegorz Ciechowski Festival (Grand Prix). Currently, after over a year spent on new compositions, they start with fresh material that they want to present to you.
Dream Atlas (alternative / progressive rock)
A rock formation formed at the beginning of 2016. In their work they draw inspiration from many sources, and bold compositions were the hallmark of the band from the beginning. They have won many awards, including the Golden Scythe of the Antyradio’s 2017 Antifest. They played at 2017 Rock for People Festival, Antyradio’s 2017 Rock Album of the Year Gala, and Pol’and’Rock 2018. Dream Atlas’ concerts are mainly a variety of compositions, memorable melodies and a great dose of energy on stage!
FRIDAY, 12 JULY
“little metal Friday”
Radical Notion (rock / metal)
This Wroclaw band presents a mixture of such genres as Prog Rock, Prog Metal or Djent, which the band describes as “modern metal”. Strong guitar sounds interwoven with broken metre, served by the rhythm section, and the climatic sounds of synthesisers combining it all together. This is what Radical Notion will gladly present to you.
Inclusion (alternative metal)
This Cracovian group consists of five different musical characters, which resulted in a unique, difficult to describe musical creation, which is best heard with your own ears. They have been performing under their current name since the end of 2014. By that time, they had already registered three EPs and many concerts – including the final concert of the Krakow edition of the Emergenza Festival (2016), which they won and after that they represented their hometown in the Warsaw finals.
N3RV (metalcore / djent)
N3RV’s music is heavy electronics, low-tuned guitars and strong, yet melodic vocals. It is a new project on the musical map of the world. Fate made them find each other and create a mixture of different influences and styles, which resulted in the album The Mixture, which will be released at the end of March. They played support for Crazy Town in Wrocław, but outside of Poland they also gave concerts in the UK and Germany. Finalists of the Rock League and Mayday Rock Festival.
SATURDAY, 13 JULY
ColourCollide (rock / pop)
The band founded in 2017 by two friends with the same vision. The current line-up of musicians comes from different countries (Germany, New Zealand, Finland) and different musical backgrounds, so they have a slightly different approach to music and use instruments that are not common in pop or rock music. They gain the attention of listeners with sounds and lyrics.
Izzy & The Black Trees (American post-punk indie)
Izzy & Black Trees’ performances are dominated by punk energy, interwoven with delicate moments and a hint of psychedelic. The Pixies, Patti Smith Band, Nick Cave, the sound of Seattle of the 90s – these are some of the associations the audience who have already seen the band live has had. The quartet recorded its first studio EP where American folk combines with signature Sonic Youth guitar riffs, and all this under the guidance of the charismatic vocalist’s voice. The winners of Cloud9 Festival, they played, among others, at this year’s Spring Break Festival.
